Oviatt Library Main Floor

Friends Bookstore

The Friends Bookstore is located in the Oviatt Library on the first floor in the west wing. We are open every weekday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and feature "previously read books" at very reasonable prices. Most hardcover books sell for one dollar. Collectibles may be slightly higher.

Study Area

All floors of the Library provide many quiet places for students to study.

Labs A, B & C

Labs A, B and C are for library instruction. These computers are available for individual student use whenever a class is not being held.

Student Lounge

Study Lounges on the main floor behind the Reference Desk and on the fourth floor in Reserves, Periodicals & Microform provide a quiet place to relax, read and study. Their recent addition – including comfortable furniture and café-style study tables -- was funded by the Campus Quality Fee.

Reference Desk

Reference Librarians can help you find information, show you how to use online databases and develop search strategies, and help you locate materials. Open during normal library business hours.

West Coast Copy

West Coast copy offers color photocopying, scanning, fax, and drop-off copy services. Printer debit cards may be purchased at the West Coast Copy office and at the third floor, east wing.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan is a service provided to obtain materials which are needed for research but are not available in the Oviatt Library. Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm (818) 677-2294 - interlibrary.loan@csun.edu

Assistive Technology Study Rooms

Four rooms feature a wide range of sophisticated hardware and software designed to increase access to Library resources for students with disabilities. CSUN students wishing to use one of these rooms may obtain a key at the circulation desk. Students will be asked to present their card from the Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) indicating that they have received appropriate training on the equipment.

Freudian Sip

Need to wake up or take a break from studying? Freudian Sip is now available in the Oviatt Library lobby.

Circulation Services Desk

Come to the Circulation Desk in the Main Floor lobby to check out circulating materials in the main collection, pick up materials placed on hold and requested from ASRS, and pay library fines. There is a self-service checkout scanner for your convenience.
