Oviatt Library Lobby
The Oviatt Library celebrated "Women in Music" with a lobby exhibit featuring women in the music profession, both past and present, highlighting their distinctive compositions and individual experiences.
The unique exhibit displays featured the artists' reflections on their music, along with photographs, manuscripts, album covers, music scores, correspondence, and reviews culled from the following Oviatt Library Special Collections and Archives collections:
- Los Angeles Women's Symphony
- Ruth Shaw Wylie Music Scores
- Library of the International Institute for the Study of Women in Music
- Cohen Collection on Women Composers
"I hope to showcase the women behind the music and demonstrate the cooperation between composition, conductor and performer," said curator Serena Vaquilar.
Aside from Serena Vaquilar, we'd like to acknowledge the assistance of Lindsay Hansen and Robert Marshall in putting together this exhibit.
