The Teacher Curriculum Center (TCC) has a variety of materials that can be used for the teaching of reading. The following will help you to identify and locate the most appropriate reading materials for your needs.

Basal readers

The label "basal reader" has a variety of meanings. Most commonly, it is used to refer to a collection of stories that use "basic" vocabulary and sentence structure. These readers are used in the development and enhancement of early reading skills. Basal readers can be single volumes, but most are the first grades (K-4) of a reading textbook series.

To locate basal readers in the TCC, use the following subject headings on the Library Catalog. When using the Oviatt Library Catalog, use the "Quick Search" option and limit your search to just the TCC.

Use the Study and teaching subdivision after any subject to find curriculum guides and lesson plans in the Library Catalog. Examples:
