Go to GPO Access

The following quick-start guide has been created for CSUN students and researchers.

Description

Scope

GPO Access offers a growing collection of full-text databases from the U.S. government, most of which cover recent years only. It includes the text of federal bills, Congressional Record, the Federal Register and other legal sources. It also includes Economic Indicators, the Government Manual (a directory of federal agencies) and several other databases. We expect new databases to be added to GPO Access as more federal agencies convert from print to electronic publications -- see GPO Access Online Resources: A-Z Resource List for more information. An online Training Manual is available. New databases and sites hosted by GPO Access can be viewed at http://www.gpoaccess.gov/

Searching

Search tips

Boolean key word searching assumes the OR operator unless you specify otherwise. (e.g. earthquake seismic searches for either the word earthquake or the word seismic.) Sometimes the case is important. If you want to find a proper noun, e.g. Northridge, you must capitalize the first letter. A boolean operator must always be in upper case letters!

Boolean Search Terms
Operator Usage
ADJ Northridge ADJ earthquake
AND California AND earthquake
OR earthquake OR seismic
NOT disaster NOT floods
