Description
Scope
The Hispanic American
Periodicals Index (HAPI) provides citations of articles about Central
and South America, Mexico, the Caribbean basin, the United States-Mexico border
region, and Latinos in the United States from over 500 social science and
humanities journals. Links to full text are available for some articles, but
HAPI is mainly an index rather than a full-text database. Coverage: 1970-present.
Restrictions and Software Requirements
- CSUN users (student, faculty, staff) only
Searching
The HAPI search screen allows searches by keyword, subject, author name,
article title, journal title, and subject. The search can be limited to articles
that have full text links.
Search Tips
- When searching, do not use accents or diacritical marks.
- There is no truncation symbol. To find word variations, type the stem
of the word. For example, typing mexic in the keyword
field will locate citations that contain the words Mexico, México,
Mexican, Mexicans, and Mexicanos.
- A thesaurus provides a complete list of subject headings.
- To locate full text articles for citations that do not link to full text,
search for the journal or book title in the Oviatt
Library Catalog and in the CSUN List of
Electronic Periodicals.
