What donations are accepted?
The Friends only accepts unconditional donations of books, compact discs, and DVDs. The Friends accept books that are in good condition -- no more than 10 years old, or considered classics, literary fiction and archival collections.
Note: Complete runs of magazines can only be accepted with prior approval by the subject librarian.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, each donation is tax deductible per 501(c) 3 charitable organization law. Each donor is given a Deed of Gift to fill out at the time of donation. We cannot discuss the value of any donation. Please check with your accountant for the latest tax laws concerning book donations to the Library.
The Deed will be processed and you will receive an acknowledgement letter from the University Foundation and the Library. The letter from the University Foundation is used for IRS purposes.
How do I donate to the Friends?
Email a list of the book titles, date published, and the author to email@example.com. Once the list has been reviewed we will contact you to schedule a pick-up or drop-off date.

What happens to materials after they are donated?
Once the appointment for pickup/drop off has been scheduled and completed. The books and materials are taken to the Friend's workroom where the donations are counted and sorted. The librarians decide which materials will be added to the Library collection, and which will be given to the Friend's based on the list provided. These materials will be sold to help raise funds for the Library. The books that are added to the collection are either replacements for missing books or books needed to expand the Library's collection.
