CTVA 500: Theory/History of Cinema I: Finding articles

This guide has been archived and may have outdated information or broken links.

You can search for articles a few different ways.

If you have a specific journal you want to search (such as Film Comment or Variety), find it in the catalog by Title.

Film Comment is available in print and electronically:

You can choose the electronic version, but just pay attention to the dates covered.

If you want to search by subject, you can use a database. There is an alphabetical listing of databases on the Library homepage, or you can go to the subject guide for CTVA.

Some databases, like JSTOR, are full-text. Other databases provide just the abstracts with links to the full text.

For example, if you're searching for Man on Wire in EBSCOHost, you'll see a result like this:

Click on Find Text.

If the Library does NOT have access to the article, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). This is a free service, and most materials come within 1-2 weeks.
