Local Population Statistics Online

Recent U.S. Census Data

To search for and display 2010 U.S. Census data for the entire San Fernando Valley, use American FactFinder as follows:

  • Click on Geographies, select County Subdivision as the Geographic Type, select California as the State, select Los Angeles as the County, and select San Fernando Valley CCD, Los Angeles County, California. If desired, one may also select county subdivisions from the menu.
  • Close the window when done, and a long list of data tables will be displayed for the San Fernando Valley. To further narrow results to specific demographics, select topics or race and ethnic groups to add to the search.

Data by Census Tracts or zip code can also be used in American FactFinder to search smaller geographic areas of the San Fernando Valley.

  • Zip Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTA) are used in American FactFinder to report data by zip code. Therefore, when searching for zip code level data, from the Geographies menu, select 5 digit ZCTA, select California as the State, and then the desired zip code from the ZCTA5 menu that is shown, such as "ZCTA5 91324". More information is available at: What is a Zip Code Tabulation Area? (Census Bureau).
  • Zip Code Look-up (U.S. Postal Service). Search by address, city, or business name to find zip codes. If found, the appropriate ZIP+4 Code will be returned. Can also find city name by zip code. Includes a link to the Postal Service's Zip Code FAQs.
  • Community Information by Zip Code (Oviatt Library) includes more detail about People and Households by ZIP Code.
