History of the American Media: Primary Sources

Definition

In addition to News sources, which may be considered the first account of a newsworthy event, primary sources, which are unpublished documents and other artifacts written or created under the time of study, are a rich resource. Examples include diaries, photographs, reporters notebooks, correspondence, event posters, oral histories, and other archival materials. More information on the definition of primary sources can be found on the website of the UCLA Insitute of Primary Sources.
