Searching for articles

These database have articles about how nonprofit organizations market to various groups. The keyword search examples will help you find information.

 

Using databases

ABI/INFORM Complete: Do a keyword search for articles. (Ex: nonprofit* and market* and (donor* or donation*) (Ex: "battered women" and marketing). (Ex: "relationship marketing" and donors)

You can also limit by terms like "Market Report" or "Market Research" under "Document Type" in the middle of the search page.

Business Source Elite: Use keywords to find articles. (Ex: (nonprofit organization* or nonprofit*) and market* and victim*)

Regional Business News: Do a keyword search on your topic. (Ex: (nonprofit* or nonprofit organization*) and market* and (donor* and donation*)

ScienceDirect: Do a keyword search using some of the terms listed above.

Google Scholar: Follow the instructions beneath Google Scholar in our database list so that you can search for full-text holdings at CSUN. (Ex: marketing nonprofit organizations donors)

Finding good websites

In order to find good websites, take advantage of Google's advanced search functions. Limit searching to .edu or .gov to find reliable information. (Ex: marketing donors shelters site:.edu) (Ex: marketing donors shelters site:.gov). You could also limit the format .pdf.

To access the advanced search, enter your words into Google's search box and click SEARCH. Then click on the cog wheel in the upper right-hand side of the page and select ADVANCED SEARCH.
