How to use OneSearch

From the hompage of the library website you can use OneSearch to quickly look up books, articles, and media from one search.  If you are unable to locate a source on your topic then try one of the specialized databases on the right hand side of this page.


Issues in Education




  • ERIC has over 1,000 educational and education-related journals.
  • Limit your search by grade level (early education to higher education)
  • ERIC documents are published on microfiche by the Educational Resources Information Center, a department of the National Institute of Education. (ED) Some are online and the collection is on the 4th floor of the library in Reserves and Periodicals and can be accessed with the Eric Document number.
  • ERIC broadly defines "journal" as a periodical or serial publication with a stated aim and scope, published with regular frequency.

Information on the topic of Chicanas and Chicanos may be found using a variety of search terms combined with any or all of the following terms which can be used to identify a specific group:


  • "Mexican American" *
  • Mexican - American
  • Hispanic
  • Chicano
  • Chicana
  • Latino
  • Latina
  • Mexicano
  • Mexicana

*Some search terms like Mexican American require quotation marks. Quotation marks glue words together in the search -- in other words, these words will always be next to each other in your search results =  "Mexican American"
