The Oviatt Library is pleased to offer some of our services to eligible high
school students in Advanced Placement classes at Los Angeles Unified School
District high schools in the San Fernando Valley. See below for details of
the program. Information regarding the Advanced Placement Student Program
is mailed to eligible high school principals and library media teachers in
the Fall. Advanced placement students at the following high schools may be
eligible to participate in the program:

- Canoga Park Senior High
- Chatsworth Senior High
- Cleveland Senior High
- El Camino Real Senior High
- John H. Francis Polytechnic High School
- Granada Hills Senior High
- Granada Hills Magnet High School
- Grant Senior High
- Kennedy Senior High
- Monroe Senior High
- North Hollywood Senior High
- Reseda Senior High
- San Fernando Senior High
- Sylmar Senior High
- Taft Senior High
- Van Nuys Senior High
- Verdugo Hills Senior High
What privileges are available?
Eligible students may:
- Borrow up to three items at a time from the Oviatt Library.
- Receive reference assistance from librarians at the Oviatt Library.
- Access computers in the Oviatt Library Reference Room on the first floor
of the Library.
What are the requirements to participate?
- Students' names must appear on the Advanced Placement student roster
sent by their high school.
- Students must register in-person at the Oviatt Library circulation desk.
- Students must bring a valid, high school-issued photo I.D.
- Students must bring a completed permission slip, signed by their parent
or guardian.
- Students are required to present a completed and signed research referral
form from their high school Library Media Teacher to the Oviatt Library
every time they check out materials or request assistance from a librarian
at the Oviatt Library. When the Library Media Teacher determines that a
student needs materials that the school library does not own, they may then
refer that student to the Oviatt Library.
What are the borrowing privileges for students in the Advanced Placement
Student Program?
- Three items at a time
- Two-week check out period
- One renewal for an additional two weeks
