The Old China Hands Archive was established in the fall of 1996 to preserve and publicize the heritage of the many people from other countries and cultures who have resided and worked in China. The Archive is located in the Special Collections and Archives Department of the University Library at California State University, Northridge.
Purposes and Functions
- Collects, catalogs, and preserves written, printed, graphic, audio, and video materials pertaining to the Old China Hands experience.
- Builds a substantial general collection of background literature on the Old China Hands experience.
- Promotes interest in the study of the history of Old China Hands among faculty, students, the academic community and the general public.
- Sponsors formal and informal seminars and meetings.
- Mounts exhibits of appropriate materials and artifacts.
