Did You Know?
Students can access the Library's online resources remotely. That means they can find information from more than 100 databases containing magazine, newspaper and journal articles from any location. They can also access eBooks. All they need to know is their CSUN User ID and Password. (For more information on CSUN User ID and password, see the Campus IT Username and Password page.)
Students can receive reference assistance 24/7 through our Online Virtual Reference Chat service, email or telephone. These services are available through our Ask a Librarian page. Librarians can also be contacted at the reference desk during Reference Desk Service Hours.
Students have free wireless access to the campus network and the Internet. In addition, there are 20 wireless-enabled laptops available for two-hour, in-Library checkout from the Collaboratory on the third floor, east wing of the Library.
More than 170 computer workstations with a range of software programs are available in the Collaboratory for students to carry out research and to type papers.
Librarian Subject Specialists are available to assist students with in-depth research in a specific field or discipline.
If there are articles, books or other library materials students need, but the Library does not own, they can be requested online and obtained by the Library free of charge through our Interlibrary Loan Services.
- The second, third and fourth floors of the Library provide many quiet places for students to study. These spaces include single-student and quiet group-study rooms that are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Oviatt Library hours are extended during mid-terms and finals. Students may study in the Library from 7:45 a.m. until midnight on most days during these periods.
The university provides personal safety escorts to chaperone students from the Library to their cars from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Escorts will also wait with students until their ride arrives, if they are being picked up by a third party. Users may contact (818) 677-5042 or (818) 677-5048 to make arrangements.
