    New Electronic Resources

Empire Online: Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Jeffrey Auerbach, Assistant Professor of History at California State University, Northridge, the Oviatt Library will receive access for ten years to Empire Online from Adam Matthew Publications, Ltd. When completed, Empire Online will provide access to over 60,000 original manuscripts and documents that cover colonial history, politics, culture, and society from 1492-1962 with introductory essays written by experts. Auerbach contributed an essay entitled “The Great Exhibition: Art, Display and the British Empire” to the Empire Online project. Empire Online is available on the Library web site on the Electronic Books page.

    Other Library News

Textbooks in the Library Collection: The Oviatt Library receives many requests from students who hope to borrow or have access to required texts for courses that they are taking. Unfortunately, we are not able to purchase required texts for all classes offered on campus, so some students may not get the access that they need to important readings. We would like to encourage instructors to use our Course Reserves to make extra copies of required texts available to students who would like to use them. Course Reserves material can be in print or digital format. For more information about reserves, please go the Course Reserves link on the Library’s home page at http://library.csun.edu.

Friends of the Oviatt Library Bookstore: The Oviatt Library receives donations from faculty and community members of many high-quality used books that are for sale in the bookstore in the west wing of the main floor of the Library. Shelves are restocked as new books arrive. The Bookstore is open during Fall and Spring semesters Monday through Friday from 10:00AM to 2:00PM.
