• ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. New York, American Society of Mechanical Engineers. (TJ290 .A7 - Floor 3 ) Section 2A and 2B list materials specifications. Most are the same as selected ASTM standards (see above) and American Welding Society standards; divided into ferrous and non ferrous metals. Section 8 gives requirements for design, manufacturing, and testing. Tables give ranges of properties for various metals.

• Engineered Materials Handbook. American Society for Metals. Metals Park, OH, ASM International, 1987 (ref TA403 .E497 1987 - Reference Room) Intended to complement Metals Handbook, this will be a multivolume set. Volume 1 emphasizes "advanced composites" (thermoset polymer matrix materials reinforced with continuous fibers), but including one chapter on metal, carbon/graphite and ceramic matrix composites. Chapters cover forms of material, properties, testing, design, structures, manufacturing, some applications, machining and assembly, and failures. Volume 2 will emphasize reinforced plastics.
