A visual chronicle of Cal State Northridge's ongoing evolution went
on display Sept. 25 as President Blenda J. Wilson, former President James
Cleary and Library Dean Susan C. Curzon cut the ribbon on the
University Archives historical exhibit in celebration of the
University's 40th anniversary.
"When I look at the archives, it gives (me) a great sense of pride and it shows the cultural diversity here at Cal State Northridge," said Wilson. As "Happy 40th Anniversary" was beamed via hologram onto the pavement of the Library's South Portico, those in attendance enjoyed the nostalgic big band sounds of "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea," the Beatles' "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," Al Green's "Still in Love With You" and other musical hits.
In the Library's main lobby, display cases contained numerous pieces of Northridge history: photos of the first President's Wives Club, the school's first catalog and schedule of classes, pictures of campus visitors Robert Kennedy and author Ray Bradbury, and photos and testimonies of civil unrest during the 1960s.
