The Dog Agility Trials took place on
April 26 and
27, on the Oviatt lawn. It was a great weekend for the dogs, their owners,
and the Oviatt Library, since proceeds from the event will go to the
Library. The talented and highly trained dogs , both purebreed and mixes,
came from as far away as Arizona and Northern California to compete in this
event and to earn titles from the North American Dog Agility Council and
the Australian Shepherd Club of America. The dogs negotiated
teeter-totters (see photo), ran through tunnels, and jumped through tires
as part of their competition. This event is always a real crowd
pleaser, and everyone had a good time cheering on the dogs, who love the
applause and attention.
The Friends thank West Valley DogSports for holding this event the past 2
years as a benefit for the Library. Last year $2,500 was raised. The
figure for this year is pending.
