Neil AndersonPrior to beginning a new career in the telecommunications industry in 1991, Neil Anderson had a successful music career. He was first prize winner of the Concerts Atlantique Competition and awarded a Solo Recitalists Music Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts. Former principal guitarist with Boston-based contemporary music group ALEA III, he gave the world premiere performance of many important new works for guitar. He represented the United Sates in the Primer Festival Internacional de Guitarra in Caracas and has made numerous radio and television appearances including National Public Radio’s “Morning Pro Music” the CBC Radio Network in Canada, and Venezuelan Public Television.

He recorded for the SAIL and Centaur labels and was frequently invited to conduct master classes and adjudicate competitions in the U.S. and abroad. For nearly two decades he chaired the guitar department at The Boston Conservatory and was on the faculties of New England Conservatory and the University of Lowell. He was Chairman of the advisory board of the Guitar Foundation of America for several years and raised prize money for several GFA competitions including the Naxos recording for the GFA performance competition winner. Mr. Anderson’s combined professional music experience and business acumen was a valuable asset to the GFA during his advisory board tenure.
