Arcas, Julian Gavino Lacal (1832-1882)Born in Almeria, Spain, October 25, 1832 and died at Antequera, Malaga, February 16, 1882. He was a distinquished guitarist and composer of national dances, airs, operatic arrangements and is mentioned in many of the historical books on Spanish composers. Arcas was at the height of his performing fame between the years of 1860-1870 and played for royal families of both Spain and England. He became a close friend to the noted guitar builder, Antonio Torres, and suggested changes in the table of the instrument.
