Giuliani, Mauro (1781-1829)

This Italian guitar virtuoso flourished through the first third of the 19th century. Giuliani was born in Barletta, July 27, 1781, and died in Naples, May 8, 1829. At the age of 19 he undertook a highly succesful tour in Europe; settled in Vienna in 1807, where he became associated with Hummel, Moschelles and Diabelli; Beethoven became interested in him. He won extraordinary acclaim in London.
