| Janon was born in Cartegena, Columbia, So. America in 1834 and came to the United States around 1860. His musical activities led to more than 90 works, numerous arrangements and original works, being published with such famous publishing houses as Wm. Hall, Oliver Ditson and Lee & Walker. He was the first to prepare an American edition of Carcassi's method, later to be imitated by numerous editors, guitar teachers and performers. De Janon died in New York, March 11, 1911. |
