About This Site

This site has been constructed to provide a focal point for the Information Competence initiatives within the California State University system. The site is currently maintained by the Kennedy Library at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

The Work Group on Information Competence was formed several years ago and sponsored the Information Competence Conference held in Long Beach, November 16-17, 1995. Each of the 22 CSU campuses were represented by one faculty member and one librarian. It was a stimulating and well-organized conference.

The Information Competence in the CSU: A Report drawn up by the Work Group has been distributed throughout the CSU and each campus is currently discussing how to implement and integrate the concepts of Information Competence throughout the curriculum.

Information Competence Implementation Through Interactive Instructional Materials: A Systemwide Collaboration was a proposal submitted by Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo that was funded by the Work Group on Information Competence. This site will be used to describe the project, provide input by CSU librarians and faculty, demonstrate the results, and be a clearinghouse for other Information Competence and Information Literacy projects within and outside the CSU.
