EXPERIENCE:
California State University, Northridge - University Library:
- Interim Associate Dean, April 1, 2005-October 2005
- Assisted the Dean in carrying out the mission of the Library and serves
as Administrator-in-Charge during the Dean's absence. Under direction of
the Dean, the Associate Dean was responsible for management of the Circulation
unit, the Reserves, Periodicals, & Microform unit, the Music & Media
unit, the Interlibrary Loan unit, the Teacher Curriculum Center, and Special
Collections and Archives. Assisted with strategic planning and decision-making.
Resolved day-to-day issues with students and faculty, and was responsible
for security and emergency planning. When requested, provided reports and
analysis for the Library. Worked closely with Department Chairs, the Systems
Administrator, and the Manager of Academic Resources. Participated in The
Friends of the Oviatt Library and fundraising activities.
- Reference Librarian and Bibliographer, 1972 to present
- Special subject responsibilities for Chicano Studies, Spanish language literature, children’s literature. Responsibilities include library instruction, development of instructional materials, collection development, participation in faculty governance and department management through strategic planning, committee work and development of policies and procedures.
- Librarian for the Teacher Curriculum Center, 1978 to present
- Responsible for the management and collection development of K-12 curriculum collection of 30,000 items and facility of audiovisual equipment. Supervision of staff of 1.5 paraprofessionals and 10-15 student assistants. Library instruction for courses in the College of Education California credential program and adjunct departments.
- Cataloger 1986 to present
- Responsible for the original and cooperative cataloging of all K-12 curriculum materials and original cataloging for library science materials. Includes policies and procedures for materials processing.
- Fine Arts Desk Librarian 1992 to 2000
- Responsible for the management of the Fine Arts Service Desk collection of phonorecords, audiocassettes, videocassettes, slides, and art print file materials and equipment with 1 full-time staff and 8-10 student assistants.
California State University, Northridge – Chicana/o Studies Department
- Lecturer 1977 to present
- Developer and instructor of 3-unit library research course that is required of department majors. Committees: Curriculum Committee; Assessment Committee; Graduate Studies Committee; Academic Decathlon.
