LOCATING SPECIAL EDUCATION MATERIALS

IN THE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS LAB

The Instructional Materials Laboratory has a variety of resources which can be useful in the field of special education. The following will help you to define and locate the most appropriate materials for your needs. Both print and media resources are a vailable and indexed by author, title, subject and series in the CSUN online catalog (GEAC) and the IML card catalog. Be aware that many materials that were not specifically intended for use in spec ial education settings may very easily meet the needs of students in special education. To determine the usefulness of these materials, first look for regular subject or skill specific materials and examine them for the appropriate level of content and s kills for your intended use. Early or lower grade level materials often provide the strategies and content that is suitable and usable for a special education environment.
