Influenza - H1N1 (Swine Flu) - Bird Flu

Influenza (commonly called the “flu”) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. There are many influenza viruses. Most recently, Swine Flu (H1N1) and Bird Flu (H5N1), are pandemic influenza threats.

• InfoTRAC OneFile (Gale) The subject heading is Swine Influenza, Avian Influenza
• PubMed indexes the medical literature from 1950-present. The Medical Subject Heading(MeSH) in PubMed for swine flu virus is Influenza A Virus, H1N1 Subtype, for bird flu it is Influenza A Virus, H5N1 Subtype , Influenza in Birds.  PubMed is free on the Internet but if you want the records to link into full text articles CSUN can offer please use the following: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?otool=cacsunlib .
