Welcome, RTM 330 

The goals of the library sessions are:

• Learn How to do Library and Internet research: determine information need, choose best resources, develop a search strategy, understand keyword and subject searching, how to use boolean operators and truncation  symbols, how to cite sources, and more.
• Learn how to use the Library Catalog and the CSUN List of Electronic Journals to find books and journals on your topic.   The image below is a sample of the catalog record for an the electronic copy of the journal Parks & Recreation
• Learn how to use several databases which help you to identify scholarly articles, newspapers
  • InfoTRAC PowerSearch (all Thomson Gale databases)
  • Academic Search Elite (EBSCOHost)
  • Wilson OmniFile Full Text Mega (Wilsonweb)
  • Proquest databases and newspapers including GenderWatch, Proquest Dissertations(Humanities and Social Sciences

• Learn to look for Find text menu links databases which help you to locate the item if it is NOT available full text in the database you were using

• Recreation and Tourism Management Multisearch allows you to search several databases simultaneously
