The goals of the library sessions are
- Learn How to do Library and Internet research: determine information need, choose best resources, develop a search strategy, understand keyword and subject searching, how to use boolean operators and truncation symbols, how to cite sources, and more.
- Learn about some key library databases you will find on Find Articles & Research Data
Environmental + Occupational Health

indexes 5000 medical journals, dozens of full text books, and is a portal to the NLM Gateway, TOXNET and freely available, open access journals. For the purposes of this class, you are offered several ways to limit a search to toxicology. There is a Limit by the subset/Topic "toxicology" or you can use subheadings associated with chemicals, "adverse effects","poisoning","toxicity". There is a subheading "chemically induced" associated with diseases.
- MedlinePlus MedlinePlus brings together authoritative information from NLM, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and other government agencies and health-related organizations. Preformulated MEDLINE searches are included in MedlinePlus and give easy access to medical journal articles. MedlinePlus also has extensive information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials, and latest health news.
