REF Room Table 9 & REF Stacks (REF Z 660.I42)
An index to 3,700 medical journals published by the
National Library of Medicine covering: medicine, health administration,
psychology, physical therapy, nursing, all allied health education. It is
published monthly in multiple volumes (subject & author), which are
replaced by an annual cumulative volume (Z6660 .I422).
MEDLINE corresponds to the print indexes Index Medicus, International Nursing Index and Index to Dental Literature. MEDLINE also has author abstracts for about 60% of its records.
Journal names are abbreviated. e.g. Am J Public Health
The
full name of the journal can be looked up by using NLM's PubMed Journal
Browser http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/jbrowser.html
It is more efficient to know the full name of the journal when you look up
the journal on GEAC, CSUN's Online

Every record in MEDLINE has MeSH subject headings. Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) is shelved on Table 9. You can try looking up related MeSH headings online at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh Remember you use MeSH to identify appropriate subject headings. To actual search Medline, you want to connect to a Medline service. MeSH headings are also available throug PubMed.
CSUN Library has several ways to access MEDLINE: on FirstSearch and LexisNEXIS (subscription); and free Web access through PubMed.

National Library of Medicine announced a Free Medline official site. The PubMed Retrieval Systems is an experimental service of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the National Library of Medicine (NLM).
