REFORMA -- Los Angeles Chapter presents “El día de los niños/ El día de los libros: Celebrating books, Children, Culture and Literacy”
Speaker: Oralia Garza de Cortes (Latino Children Consultant, Early literacy specialist, and National REFORMA's Operational Coordinator for Día de los niños/el día de los libros)
Ms. Cortes will discuss the history of Día and programming ideas, specifically targeting children and teen services librarians, school librarians, and library students. This presentation will be followed by discussion. Everyone is invited and welcome to attend. El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day), known as “Día,” is an every day celebration of children, families, and reading that culminates every year on April 30. The celebration emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
