This workshop will focus on the basics of archival description using Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS). Topics will include: description and arrangement, including minimal processing, encoding of data in MARC 21 format, finding aids, and tools for archival processing. Participants will also gain an overview on the use of the Archivist’s Toolkit to create DACS-compliant records and develop workflows for cataloging archival collections.
