Presents ...
The Southern California Technical Processes Group (SCTPG) is proud to announce that Prof. Nancy Olson has agreed to conduct a one-day hands-on workshop entitled "Video and DVD Cataloging." Prof. Olson is the renowned leader in the non-book cataloging field and has written extensively on the subject. Library staff in the Southern California region who are interested in the topic are invited to attend the workshop. Participants will receive an official certificate from SCTPG at the conclusion of this workshop. The deadline for registration is Nov. 9, 2001. SCTPG is the regional affiliate of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
Workshop Instructor: Prof. Nancy Olson
Professor Emeritus,
Mankato State University, Minnesota
Professor Emeritus Nancy B. Olson cataloged audiovisual materials at Mankato State University, Minnesota, for 30 years, retiring in 1999, though she continues to write and teach workshops around the country. She received both the Esther Piercy Award (1980) and the Margaret Mann Certificate (1999) from the ALCTS division of the American Library Association, one of only two persons ever to receive both awards. She founded Soldier Creek Press, as well as OLAC, the Online Audiovisual Catalogers national association, and was one of the founders of the Minnesota AACR2 Trainers, a group that conducted many workshops throughout the upper Midwest in the years after AACR2 was introduced. She was a Visiting Scholar to the OCLC Office of Research, and has been a consultant to the Library of Congress. She is a past president of the Minnesota Library Association. She is the author of many works on, or related to, cataloging, including the 15-volume set of Combined Indexes to the Library of Congress Classification Schedules (United States Historical Documents Institute, 1975), the annual cumulative Cataloging Service Bulletin Index (Soldier Creek Press), Cataloging of Audiovisual Materials and Other Special Materials (4th ed., Minnesota Scholarly press, 1998), and numerous works on cataloging film, video, and electronic resources.
