Communication to Students - April 15, 2013

Welcome back from Spring Break!

If you’ve visited the Oviatt recently, you may have noticed that change is in the air. Have you heard about our exciting renovation plans? Over the summer we’re going to be transforming our Reference Room on the first floor into a Learning Commons! Construction in certain areas will start in April and May and we should be up and running by the start of the Fall Semester.

We’ve been busy the whole year evaluating our Reference Collection to determine what items will remain on the first floor, and which items would move elsewhere in the library. We completed this process over Spring Break, and have now moved all the items out of the Reference Room in anticipation of the start of the renovations. Items that we will be keeping on the first floor will be temporarily housed in our Automatic Storage Retrieving System (ASRS), and we’ll be working on moving those going to the 2nd and 3rd floor as fast as we can.

If you need access to a particular title, please ask for help at the Reference or Circulation Desks. Also, we have several databases with access to hundreds of online reference encyclopedias, dictionaries and guides so make sure you consult them: You can access these electronic resources from on or off campus, any time you want!
