Activate MFA for your Springshare account

These instructions are for CSUN University Library employees, student employees, and associates.

Set up MFA for your account while logged in:

  1. Log into Libcal, LibGuides or LibAnswers, the switch to the LibApps screen by selecting it from the dropdown menu on the upper left.

  2. Click your email address in the top right corner of the screen, which will bring you directly to your LibApps My Account page.
  3. Go to the Multi-Factor Authentication tab.

  4. On the Multi-Factor Authentication tab, you have two options.  Both methods will send you a code each time you login to complete the login process:
    • Select the Authenticator option to use Duo Mobile or another authenticator app to receive the login code.
    • Choose the Email method to receive your MFA code through email. This method will send the authentication code to the email address you use for your LibApps account.
  5. Use the Authenticator Application field to select the app that you will use to authenticate.
    • Currently supported apps include: Duo Mobile, Google Authenticator, LastPass Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and Authy.
    • If your preferred app is not shown, or if you use a physical device for authenticating (like YubiKey), you can use the "Other" option.
  6. Scan the provided QR code with your authenticator app.
    1. Open the DUO Mobile app on your phone
    2. Touch +Add and then Use QR Code.
    3. If you cannot scan the QR code, you can manually enter the security code provided onscreen in your authenticator app.
  7. Enter the 6-digit verification code generated from the app (or from your email account if using the email-based method).
  8. Click the Activate MFA button.
    • After activating, the next time you log into LibApps you'll be prompted to go through the same authentication process you chose for your account.
