Hello Matadors! Stop by the Oviatt to help us celebrate National Media Literacy Week in the upcoming days. The goal of Media Literacy Week is to raise awareness about the need for media literacy education. To that end, the Oviatt Library, CSUN Journalism Department and the Center for Media Literacy have collaborated to bring you a screening of the documentary “The Illusionists” on Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Jack & Florence Ferman Presentation Room. There will be live “tweeting” as Matadors will have an opportunity to post reactions about the documentary in real time to Twitter. “The Illusionists” is a must-see documentary about the globalization of beauty ideals that targets both women and men. There will be chances to win one of several raffles at this screening and light refreshments will be served. This is a free event. RSVP requested.
Also to celebrate National Media Literacy Week, Matadors will be able to participate in drop-in Newspaper Salons and discuss current news and events in the Oviatt Library Learning Commons. These Newspaper Salons will take place on Mon., Nov. 6 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; Tues., Nov. 7 from 12-3 p.m.; and Wed. Nov. 8 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information about the Newspaper Salons and other Media Literacy Week activities visit Be Media Literate. We look forward to seeing you for these events!
