Many CSUN EOP Bridge students, who will be first-time freshmen in the fall, are visiting the Library this summer finding out about all of the resources and services available to them as new Matadors. The Oviatt Library and CSUN’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) work together each year to prepare Bridge students for the myriad of academic experiences they can expect at CSUN.
These students are attending Library tours where they learn firsthand about the help they can receive at the Library, and with their research, including the location a group study rooms that will be useful to them when they prepare for midterms and exams.
Services such as the Creative Media Studio are one of the many highlights of the Library tours as students find out about the specialized computers and software programs made available to them for use in multi-media projects. Students are also introduced to the Course Reserves Desk and all of the resources the Reserves, Periodicals and Microform (RPM) Department carries. Other services covered within the tours include information about borrowing iPads and laptops, and Interlibrary Loan Services. Of course, one of the highlights of the Library tour includes a visit to the Library’s Automated Storage & Retrieval System. During these tours, students are often impressed with the technology and how it is able to house and retrieve approximately 700,000 items within the Oviatt collection upon demand.
We are very pleased to have EOP Bridge students in our Library this summer, and we look forward to working with them during the upcoming academic year!
