The University Library has recently begun a subscription to Scopus, a database that allows you to search abstract and index information, connect to the library’s full text sources, and view citation data for authors, publications, and institutions. Scopus is a great tool to use if you are looking to survey the literature on a topic, if you’d like to find articles that cited a particular study, if you want to measure your own research impact, or if you’d like to identify potential collaborators. You can get started now with CSUN Library’s institutional access to Scopus.
Scopus also offers journal rankings using their CiteScore, which is similar to an Impact Factor. You can search for journals by subject area at the Scopus Sources page.
Elsevier offers a guide to Scopus on their website and also provides video tutorials. Scopus will be taking the place of Web of Science, a competing database that CSUN users will no longer have access to.
