The University Library, Department of Journalism, Pride Center, and Queer Studies Program will host the 13th Annual Banned Books Readout “Censorship Is So 1984 -- Read for Your Rights!” on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 12:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the Jack & Florence Ferman Presentation Room, University Library. CSUN Professor of Journalism Elizabeth Blakey will provide remarks and her Journalism 100 Intro to Mass Communication class will read out loud from selected books that have been censored or challenged, including books from the top ten list of censored books from 2024. RSVP required through the University Library website.

This event is hybrid, online and in-person. The event is free and everyone is welcome!
