Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan helps you access research materials not available in the University Library. To request items, please use our Interlibrary Loan request form. If CSU+ cannot fulfill your request, it will automatically route to our ILLiad services for broader access. For more questions about Interlibrary Loan, please contact interlibrary.loan@csun.edu or call (818) 677-2294.

Physical loans borrowed through Interlibrary Loan will be delivered to the Library’s Locker Service for pickup. If you prefer to pick up your item(s) inside the Library, please include ‘Pick up in library’ in the notes of your request, and your items will be made available for pickup at the Guest Services front desk. You may return ILL items inside the library during Library open hours or at any of the Library book drop bins on campus available 24/7.

Note: Items returned to book drops remain on your account until inspected by University Library staff. This process may take up to one week.

How do I use Interlibrary Loan Services?

Users can search OneSearch for books, articles, media, microforms, theses and dissertations. If the library does not own the item, you’ll see a 'Get it for me from other libraries' option. If the option is unavailable or the title cannot be found, you can submit a request using the Interlibrary Loan request form. Interlibrary Loan will typically check our CSU+ Resource Sharing lenders first. If the item is not available via CSU+, your request will automatically be routed to Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) for broader access. You can track your requests through your library OneSearch account by navigating to the requests tab. If you do not see your request, it may have been transferred to ILLiad. From the requests tab, you’ll find a link that says, "Don't see your request? It may have been transferred to ILLiad." Clicking that link will take you directly to your ILLiad account to view any transferred requests. Alternatively, you can Login to Interlibrary Loan directly. Requests submitted via email cannot be processed.

Faculty seeking videos for classroom use should first use OneSearch to explore the existing video collection for relevant titles. They may also contact their Librarian Subject Specialist to inquire about the possibility of purchasing additional materials for the Library collections.
