In celebration of Black History Month, the Hallowed Grounds Exhibit entitled “Historicizin’ & Contemporizin’ the Black Aesthetic: Keeping the Legacy Alive” takes you on a unique journey into the Black experience, honoring the history and contemporary contributions of people of Black descent, whose experience is deeply embedded in the narrative of the American past, present and future. Exhibits include:
"Art Meets Black History in Vintage Fashion," featuring 1960’s and 1970's African and African American clothing and accessories, compliments of Vintage Fashion Collector, Esther Gingberg, of Golyester Vintage Clothing in Los Angeles.
"Men of Color Enquiry & Student Research Posters" featuring "The Justice System in Black and White," "Journal to Manhood," " Black Men in Music," "Mass Incarceration of Black Males is the New Jim Crow," "Black Men in Music" and more ...
Art and memorabilia from the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP}, the Black Alumni Association (BAA), the CSUN Black Student Union (BSU), NAACP Student Organization, the African Student Organization (ASO), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
