Experience the Beauty of this Day of the Dead Tradition!

Flying Barriletes colorful flyer Join us for a special exhibition featuring the work of artisans from Guatemala. This event will highlight the majestic barriletes (giant kites) brought from Santiago Sacatepéquez, a town renowned for its rich tradition of kite-making for the Day of the Dead celebrations.

The artisans will not only display their intricately designed barriletes but will also share with the CSUN community the cultural and spiritual significance of this centuries-old practice. Attendees will learn about the process behind crafting these vibrant kites, which are believed to serve as a bridge between the living and the dead, symbolizing communication with ancestors and celebrating Mayan heritage.

This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience the artistry and cultural depth behind the barriletes, connecting the CSUN community with this powerful Guatemalan tradition.

This Day of the Dead, honor the ancestors at this special exhibition of colorful giant kites, an artistic tradition straight from Mayan culture!
