Creative Maker Studio (CMS) Celebrated its 10th Anniversary

The CSUN University Library makerspace the Creative Maker Studio (CMS) held a celebration to mark its 10th anniversary on September 18, 2024. Attendees were treated to light refreshments, a selfie booth, 3D printed souvenir keychains, equipment demos, and a raffle. CSUN President Erika Beck came to speak about the contributions the CMS has made to student achievement. President Beck took a tour of the facilities and was a presented with a 3D printed model of the CSUN "noodle" sculpture, designed by alumnus John Banks. The event was well attended.

In celebration of this milestone, the Library commissioned and presented a short film, A Decade of Creativity, which chronicles the department’s journey, highlights its achievements, and recounts heartfelt testimonials by CSUN alumni and current students who have been frequent users throughout the CMS journey. Watch as we recount the story of the CMS from its humble beginnings to its current status as a hub for innovation, experimentation, and creativity. Through a blend of archival footage and interviews, this film paints a vivid picture of our evolution and impact over the past ten years. The film was written by Eva Cohen and produced and edited by staff from IntersectLA.
