In the Library’s Guest Services department, Mike Villalobos is a champion for student success and access to resources. On staff with the Library since 2000, he loves his job and the opportunity to meet students from around the globe. During challenging pandemic times, Mike was steadfast in leading necessary pivots to ensure students’ needs were met under critical safety guidelines. Get to know Mike, a dedicated and courageous front-line staff member on our team.
What would be the result if you combined a highly skilled web programmer and a uniquely gifted poet? Our guess would be the Library’s very own multi-talented David Morck of course.
Long before considering a college career, David Morck already had developed a keen interest in technology and deep appreciation of language. David was born in Pasadena, California and raised in a household with a father who was an engineer and a mother who held advanced degrees in both English and psychology, so David had the importance of education instilled in him very early.
Three, two, one, action! What was once a childhood dream has become an everyday reality for author, award winning broadcast journalist, and former Oviatt Library student assistant Darryl Hood.
Hood personifies the old story of hard work leading to success. Even before graduating from CSUN with a degree in journalism in 1996, he began his career as a reporter for the Orange County News channel.

Behind the scenes at the Tom & Ethel Bradley Center, you will find a driven and dedicated team working on a myriad of projects. The Center’s formal mission is to collect, preserve, and disseminate the visual history of the region with an emphasis on ethnic minority communities and photographers. The Bradley Center, featured in the Oviatt Spotlight article also promotes research, serves as a center for the exchange of ideas about our visual history, and contributes to the region’s educational efforts through our exhibitions, programs, and digital archives.
As you can imagine, it takes extensive coordination to accomplish these goals. Let’s meet the people who make it happen!
The LA as Subject residency and training program is a collaborative effort between the LA as Subject alliance and the libraries of California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), CSUN, and USC, and is made possible through a generous grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The program provides training and experience for three recent Masters in Library and Information Science graduates as well as staff and volunteers at 30 L.A. as Subject member archives in skills related to digital collections management and access.
A day in the life of Keith Rice’s career is never dull. The passion and pride he puts into his work as a historian/archivist at the Tom & Ethel Bradley Center in the University Library at CSUN deserves a radiant spotlight. From curating a museum exhibit to producing a documentary, Keith is making a positive impact in showcasing Black history, amplifying voices, and forging a visual pathway for social justice.
