The Map Collection operates within a spatial inquiry research environment, and our index maps are one reference tool that can help answer questions that are spatial in nature. In contrast to traditional forms of bibliographic inquiry, spatial inquiry is a way of asking and searching based on geographic area or place portrayed within cartographic resources.
