Remnants of Resistance: Queer Studies Scholars Mine the Archives

As part of the One Institute's(link is external) Circa Queer Histories Festival(link is external), CSUN's University Library and Queer Studies Program(link is external) have partnered to produce a limited podcast series called Remnants of Resistance(link is external). Episodes are hosted by Queer Studies faculty, and will delve into the unique and hidden stories in queer history contained within the Vern and Bonnie Bullough Collection on Sex and Gender and beyond.

About the Episode

In October 2023, Queer Studies faculty who hosted episodes in the limited podcast series Remnants of Resistance gathered for a live panel discussion about their experiences working on the project. During the discussion, Heidi Schumacher, Colleen Tripp, Marie Cartier, Sid Hansen, Xochitl Alvizo, Omar Gonzalez, and Stefanie Drew are joined by student research assistants Kate Ridgewell, Loreal Wimberly, and Emma Gonzalez. Together they reflect on their work, what they learned, and what they want to know more about in the stories they explored. 

About the Host

Ellen JaroszEllen Jarosz is Head of Special Collections and Archives at California State University, Northridge. She holds a Masters of Arts in Library and Information Studies with an Archives Concentration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a past president of the Society of California Archivists, and former Associate Administrator of the Western Archives Institute. Ellen was previously Special Collections and University Archives Librarian at San Diego State University, and a Project Archivist at the Wisconsin Historical Society.
